School Volunteer

A volunteer will give a slide show presentation at your school to instruct students on what to do if they encounter wildlife, and basic information about our organization.   It is suitable from grades 1 to adult audiences.  Compensation for fuel and meals may be requested.

A presentation would take 40 to 50 minutes, depending on the interaction with the group.

Whenever possible, we try to have a licensed rehabilitator bring in some type of wildlife for the class to interact with.

Falconer Travis Parent, from Shepherd’s Gate Ministries, Inc.  (www.shepherdsgate.ca)  brought this red-tailed hawk to a class.

Travis explained that a special permit is required to possess birds of prey, why they don’t make good pets, and interesting facts about hawks.  (Click on photo to enlarge).

We need volunteers to give this program in the Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Weyburn, Yorkton, and Estevan areas.  If you are interested, please e-mail info@wrsos.org.  Photograph below of grade school class taken during slide show presentation (with written permission of parents).
