- Curing an owl of West Nile Virus can cost up to $500.
- The medical costs for a bird of prey with a broken bone runs $750 to $1,000.
Costs include minimal veterinarian care, plus food and bedding. If an animal arrives injured, costs are often much higher. Animals are released when the wildlife rehabilitator feels it has the greatest chance for survival. Enclosures for birds and mammals can cost a rehabilitator over $5,000.
