Marty, the long-eared owl

Meet Marty

This long-eared owl was found at the side of a road, and the people who found him thought he might be a burrowing owl.   He was very thin and had dislocated his shoulder, probably from an impact with a motor vehicle.

He has a lot of therapy and healing ahead of him, but we hope to be able to see him fly again this fall.  He has become quite active and has gained back the weight he lost when he was first injured.  We have named him Marty (i.e. Martin Short), although it would require a DNA test to determine if he is truly a boy or a girl.

This owl is being cared for by Dr. Melanie Blager.  Melanie doesn’t have a web site, but you can help support this owl by contributing to it’s care.
