Danny and Dolly

Meet Danny & Dolly, the black bear cubs

Dolly is a one and a half year old black bear who came in with her brother Danny April 27 2010 as small cubs no bigger than a cat. Dolly and Danny’s Mom was put down as she trying to get food from someone’s house. Dolly is a very cautious shy girl and could best be described as very forest wise! She’s very aware of her surroundings at all times and doesn’t take chances. There is no fooling this girl, she’s so smart! Dolly is crazy about berries and tender grass shoots and is the master of tearing up rotten logs. She may be smaller than her brother but holds her own when they’re rough housing and she’s faster at climbing trees! Dolly will do great as thriving nimble bear when she goes back to her home in the forest this fall!

Danny is a very intelligent boy, learning very quickly to get around any obstacle in his way. He is a big clown and loves nothing more than gorging on apples and dandelions! He is quite a bit bigger than his sister and sailed through a long winter of hibernation with flying colors! He will do great as a big healthy wild bear once he is returned to his home in the wild this fall!

Dolly and Danny have been released!   – Saskatchewan’s first rehabilitated black bears…. check out the story!
