Title: Wildlife Hotline Educator
Contract: The WRSOS is seeking candidates to fill two wildlife hotline positions. All positions are seasonal, from approximately May 1, 2019 until August 31, 2019.
The positions will be 30 hours a week at $13.50 per hour. The application deadline is April 15th, 2019.
Organization: The WRSOS is a registered non-profit organization that is committed to educating the public about wildlife issues, providing access to wildlife rehabilitation and ensuring the return of rescued, injured and truly orphaned wildlife to the wild. The wildlife hotline is a resource used by the public across Saskatchewan to get information about what to do with a wildlife concern they may have.
Job Description: The WRSOS is seeking highly self-motivated individuals able to work independently from home to answer and respond to WRSOS hotline calls. Responsibility of the Wildlife Hotline Educator is to provide information to the caller on how to resolve their concern and to minimize the unnecessary removal of wildlife from their natural habitat unless it is truly orphaned, injured or in need of assistance. If the animal is in need of help it is up to the Wildlife Hotline Educator to coordinate a way for that animal to be rescued/picked up and transported to the nearest target veterinarian or wildlife rehabilitator. The management of the hotline calls is the most important role of the WRSOS organization. Additional duties include logging all calls, coordinating hotline shifts, following up on unresolved calls, and the occasional rescuing of wildlife when required.
Requirements: The qualified person must be between the ages of 18 – 30, reside in Saskatchewan, and have a strong interest in biology, conservation, environmental science, or other related field. They must have excellent communication and organizational skills, creative problem solving skills, and the ability to work under pressure and prioritize effectively. Working proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and web applications is required. Must be organized and able to present weekly updates to their supervisor. Preference may be given to those individuals who have experience with the hotline or have volunteered with the WRSOS.
How to Apply: Please provide a cover letter, resume and references by e-mail to email@example.com by April 15th, 2019. Candidates considered for an interview will be contacted by phone or email. Please note that the funding for these positions has not yet been confirmed.
