Hayley Hesseln

Director

I grew up in Uranium City, SK and when the mine closed in the 80s, my family moved to Saskatoon.  I have a Bachelors degree in Commerce from the University of Saskatchewan, and a PhD in Forest and Environmental Economics from Colorado State University.  After working at the University of Montana for seven years, I returned to Saskatoon in 2003 to work at the University of Saskatchewan and to run a consulting business.

I have always had great respect for both wild and domestic animals.  Currently I have two dogs, two cats, two chinchillas and three rats. Over the years, I’ve had an additional 40 rats and one mouse. Although I am not trained as a biologist or veterinarian, I enjoy learning about rehabilitation and working directly with wildlife.

I hope to bring to the board my experience as a professor and business person and will serve with great compassion.
